The Modesty of Greening
A Poem by Senior 3, Literature Class 2019
Above every create
Green exalts them all,
The glamour of trees, grass and flowers
The Pivot of a symbiotic living
Oxygen - Carbon dioxide give and take ratio
Ever more the same
Verily, verily Prudent
Prudent to nature the young to save nature.
High above the sky,
The eagle may fly,
Only to come back and perch on nature
As mating in flight, an impossibleity
And nests built on trees
Why endanger wildlife.
Through bush burning, swamp reclamation, deforestation?
Verily, verily Prudent
Prudent to nature the young to save nature.
Nature at its best
Serving mankind,
But man at his worst
Experimenting destruction
Global warming, cyclones, flooding— shall be
Adverse consequences!
Verily, verily Prudent
Prudent to nature the young to save nature.
Shall we fold akimbo our arms and look on
As nature flights back?
Very no! Greening, greening and greening
Our very chorus to all nations
If humanity must thrive
Verily, verily Prudent
Prudent to nature the young to save nature.
